Bait and Switch: Ralph Northam’s switching of one debacle for another
After facing national backlash for supporting a bill that allowed late-term abortion up until birth in the state of Virginia, HB2491, another controversy involving Northam has shifted public focus from his support of infanticide to an offense considered by many, including a few Black leaders in Virginia, as a youthful indiscretion – his wearing of blackface in high school during the 1980’s. Oddly, his blackface debacle has eclipsed the infamy of his support of infanticide via abortion to the point that many focus more on the issue of his wearing blackface and the level of intent of maliciousness of a wearer rather than the more important issue, an act much more harmful to Blacks – Abortion.
Abortion is genocide
As a weapon of modern genocide, abortion is the leading cause of death of Blacks in America. In fact, according to The Radiance Foundation (2014) it was the cause of 259,336 black deaths in one year, far-surpassing the number of deaths caused by the 15 leading causes of deaths combined, which was 246,122 deaths.
Abortion is also the leading cause of death in America, altogether. HB2491 bill allowing abortion up to birth would have lead to many more deaths of the unborn, particularly Black unborn children who are aborted at a disproportionately higher rate. According to the Jatlaoui TC, Boutot ME, Mandel MG, et al’s report for the Center for Disease Control, Abortion Surveillance, Black people make up 13% of the population and account for 36.9% of the nation’s abortion whereas white women account for 36% of the nation’s abortions however white people are 76% of the nation’s population. This is mostly due to poverty caused by decades of systemic racism and disinformation about the dangers of abortion for the mother and the personhood of the child.
Deflection
Ralph Northam’s blackface scandal deflects from his more egregious abortion scandal which actually condones the targeted murder of unborn and abortion-induced born black babies by eugenicist organizations such as Planned Parenthood whose founding mission was to eliminate populations deemed as unfit and undesirable. Blacks in the south were of particular interest to Planned Parenthood founder Margaret. In fact, she stated in a letter to Clarence Gamble in 1939 that she had a special interest in Planned Parenthood predecessor, The Negro Project of the South, in which birth control, not abortion because actually Sanger thought it to be the murder of an unborn child, was being promoted to Blacks as a way to ensure their economic stability by not incurring debt associated with child-rearing. Yet, the real agenda was to limit or eliminate the poor black populations in the south, to whom W.E.B. DuBois referred to as the ignorant negro masses in his article Black Folks and Birth Control, which Sanger quoted when she was seeking support for her mission of eugenics against Blacks in the south. DuBois (1939) stated:
“Among the more intelligent class, was a postponement of marriage, which greatly decreased the number of children. Today, among this class of Negroes few men marry before thirty, and numbers of them after forty. The marriage of women of this class has similarly been postponed.
In addition to this, the low incomes which Negroes receive make bachelorhood and spinsterhood widespread, with the naturally resultant lowering, in some cases, of sex standards. On the other hand, the mass of ignorant Negroes still breed carelessly and disastrously, so that the increase among Negroes, even more than whites, is from that part of the population least intelligent and fit, and least able to rear their children properly.” (para. 4 and para.5)
Ralph Northam has worked to advance Planned Parenthood’s Agenda through his support of bill HB2491 that would have allowed abortion up until birth, even while the mother was dilated. According to LifeNews’ Steven Ertelt (2019) in his article Planned Parenthood who called Democrat Governor who endorsed Infanticide a “Champion,” Gave Him $3 Million. Planned Parenthood “spent over $3 million campaigning for him and provided Northam almost $2 million of that in direct contributions to his campaign,” He is Planned Parenthood’s man as is “Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax who is also promoted by Planned Parenthood” (Ertelt, 2019). Yet, instead of focusing on the atrocity of their being pro-abortion, people are debating blackface and whether or not Northam should just be forgiven and be allowed to go back to his job as governor in peace. Forgetting that he, a pediatric neurosurgeon, supported a bill that condoned infanticide.
